Break Periods



Employees may be granted one 15 minute paid rest break during each continuous 4 hour shift.

Rest breaks are intended to provide employees time to get refreshment, make personal calls or attend to other personal matters.

Breaks may not be applied to the start or the end of a shift.

Breaks may not be combined, added to lunch periods or to any type of leave.

Supervisors may assign break times or give employees the freedom to leave the work area when operations permit. When staff shortages occur, it may become necessary to reschedule or cancel break periods.
