Tax Service 2021

Free Tax Service

St. Charles County residents with medium to low income filing a simple tax return are eligible.

Free tax services are being offered via a drop-off service at the following Libraries:

  • Spencer Road Branch
  • Middendorf-Kredell Branch
  • Kathryn Linnemann Branch
  • Corporate Parkway Branch
  • McClay Branch
  • Kisker Road Branch

Please call any branch to schedule an appointment.


All required documents must be dropped off at the branch where the appointment is scheduled.

Note: When dropping off/picking up paperwork all customers are required to wear a mask that covers the nose and mouth.

 Please collect and drop off the following documents:

  1. Copy of last year’s tax returns - Even if you are a returning customer
  2. Valid Picture ID for Taxpayer & Spouse (Driver’s License, State ID, Passport)
  3. If Married and filing jointly, both spouses must be present to sign
  4. Social Security Cards or Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITIN) for ALL family members
  5. Birth dates for you, your spouse and dependents on the tax return
  6. Wage and earning, pension or other retirement income statements (Forms W-2, W-2G, 1099-R, 1099-Misc) from all employers/payers
  7. Interest and dividend statements from banks (Forms 1099-INT and -DIV)
  8. 1098 or real estate tax receipt
  9. Proof of unemployment compensation
  10. Brokerage statements
  11. A copy of a voided check or bank account and routing numbers for direct deposit
  12. Proof of child care expenses
  13. Proof of Health Insurance (Forms 1095-A, B or C, Affordable Health Care Statements) or exemption certificate
